Salut, :]

So yeah, Just figured I'd keep people up to date on what projects I'm currently juggling (poorly).

in ALL 3 of my college classes I've been working diligently on the finals that have been so generously thrust upon me. Here's what I've gotta do:

History and Trends of animation: Interview a professional animator and subsequently create a powerpoint detailing some specifics that the job entails. Then create a visual component relating to aforementioned career.

I'm making a 38-second animated short involving pirates, this will be done by Wednesday Sept 16th.

Computer Apps: get into groups and record a video that shows your first quarter at AI. You must use photoshop and 3ds max somewhere in your movie.

I created a little 3D clock and I'm probably gonna end up doing something in photoshop. This is due two weeks from Tues.

And finally I have to spend roughly 10-20 hours on a piece involving the theme "collaboration" using a full range of values and graphite pencils. The piece must be done on one of those canvas-sized sheets of paper. I haven't even started this yet -_-;;

So as you can see I'm pretty bogged down with finals at the moment...I can't wait until I'm done with 'em.
================================================

On top of all this, I'm currently trying to teach myself french for self-enrichment. (plus I happen to find many french drawing/animation styles epic :icongueuzav" for example). I know about 120-ish words/phrases so far, but It's still hard to form sentences and understand the infinitives and conjugations and whatnot. But it's only been about a month of trial(and many errors).

It's gonna be a long road not speaking or immersing myself to it though, maybe when I'm done with school I'll take an immersion camp or something...idk, haha.

Tons of sketchbook pages, but I haven't scanned ANY, sorry guys. I'm hitting one of those defining points in my drawing career, where I evaluate every aspect of my artwork, and then decide I'm more or less not happy with it.

I don't know many ways to draw eyes, facial shapes, noses, etc....

-My anatomy needs fine tuning, well not so much fine tuning as a complete overhaul.

-My poses need more dynamic yet convincing motions to them

-My clothing style needs to have more inspirations than I currently have.

-I need to learn how to do 2 pt perspective and 3 point too, all I know is 1 point.

-I need to learn how to more effectively digitally color in photoshop.

Most important to me are faces and poses. I'm gonna do some practice and put some of it up for critique.

In college.

So I've officially finished my first week at the Art Institute of Minnesota. I gotta say it's a HELL of a lot better than high school. I'm actually interested in what they've got to teach. They've already got us using photoshop to retouch celebrity mugshots and making full-page sketches in our sketchbooks. I don't have a whole lot of time to make animations except Fri-Sun...those are the days I have off.

Anyway I'll scan a few of my favorite sketches at the school sometime and upload 'em here :]. I've gotten pretty rusty with traditional means but I'm aiming to remedy that.

  • Mood: Optimism
  • Listening to: TV
  • Reading: Drawing and perspective
  • Watching: Some movie on TV
  • Playing: TF2
  • Eating: The lining of my stomach
  • Drinking: Birch beer
